I ONCE HAD A GIRLFRIEND THAT DID NOT UNDERSTAND MY AFFECTION FOR VINTAGE SNEAKERS. SHE ACCUSED ME OF LOVING THEM MORE THAN HER. AND EVEN THOUGH I STILL HAVE THEM AND NOT HER I THINK THE COMPARISON WAS NUTS INSERT *(SMILE)* HERE.lol
THERE ARE MANY REASONS FOR THIS.... FOR SOME ONE OF BLACK HERITAGE ME AND MANY OF MY FRIENDS CAME FROM WORKING CLASS FAMILIES WHICH MEANT ONE PAIR OF SNEAKERS ONE PAIR OF CHURCH SHOES AT A TIME. AND THAT ONE PAIR WOULD BE TREATED LIKE GOLD. I DID ALL TYPES OF THINGS TO TRICK MYSELF INTO BELIEVING THAT I HAD MORE BY CHANGING THE SHOE STRING COLORS ( I HAD A BOX WITH EVERY COLOR IN THE CRAYOLA COLOR FAMILY). I WOULD LACE THEM CHECKER BOARD , TWO COLORS IN AT THE SAME TIME. ONE COLOR IN ONE SHOE AND ONE IN THE OTHER. THERE WAS A FEELING THAT HAS TO BE THE SAME AS WHEN A LADY BUYS HERSELF A NEW HANDBAG . SNEAKERS ARE THE SAME THING TO MEN, AND IN MANY RESPECTS A GROWN MAN HAVING A COLLECTION IS RECLAIMING AND HEALING THE TIMES OF NOT BEING ABLE TO HAVE SO MANY. LIKE KANYE SAID "WAIT TIL I GET MY MONEY RIGHT" I PROMISE!! I WILL BUY A WHOLE SNEAKER BOUTIQUE !!
